Inside the app

The problem
Ghosting, moving to each court position and playing a shadow stroke before recovering to the T, is one of the main ways squash players build movement, footwork, agility and court coverage on their own. But solo ghosting has little structure: no one calls the positions, no one notices which corners are being avoided, and no record shows whether movement is improving.
“I trained alone for years and never had a way to know if it was working. I built GhostingX so no player has to wonder that again.” (Varish, on the GhostingX website)
The methodology
Varish developed a structured solo-training methodology using progressive drills and two court systems. The 6-point system covers the four corners, both mid-court drive zones and the T. The 10-point system adds four bridging positions for longer arcs, more complex sequences and greater aerobic demand.
Product decisions
The app is designed to be used on court, with the phone in a pocket:
- Voice coaching calls each position through earphones, so the player's eyes stay on the front wall
- Session setup takes under 30 seconds: court system, duration, difficulty, tempo and voice mode
- Analytics show zone balance and session history, so blind spots in movement become visible
- Fully offline: sessions run and are stored on the device, with nothing sent to a server
- Multilingual voice coaching, so structured training is usable by players across language backgrounds
- Free, with no subscription, advertising or account, so cost is not a barrier
Team
Varish co-founded GhostingX with Darshika Gahlot, Co-Founder and Community Lead, who leads community strategy. Varish developed the methodology and the product. The app is intended for players at every level, anywhere they can find a court; no download or user figures are claimed here.
The app is published under a parent's developer account, because both app stores require account holders to be 18 or over. The listings transfer to Varish at 18.
